My friends often ask me how I managed to take the plane with my 3-month-old daughter for an 8-hour flight from Paris to Fort-de-France in Martinique, or how a few years later I traveled alone with my two children, aged 6 months and 3 years at the time, for a flight between Paris and Corsica. Well, first of all, I'm not going to lie to you, there were unpleasant moments (let's be polite) but thanks to these experiences I can give you some advice to avoid problems and hopefully allow you to have a good time. have a good flight with your little ones Lou.

Tip #1: Relax

You weren't expecting this advice, but in reality it's essential before taking the plane with your children to relax and tell yourself that yes it's going to be complicated but that it's worth it because you're going to have a great time. vacation ! So we breathe and to avoid any unnecessary stress we follow the second tip.

Tip #2: Choose the right seats

Opt for seats near the toilet and at the front of the stall for easy access and less noise. Consider requesting a baby cot for long-haul flights.

Tip #3: Be organized

Before you fly, make a checklist or you can use this one.

The stroller for children under 5 years old is very practical in the airport and in the departure lounge. You will have to fold it when going through security and once on the plane.

The baby carrier is also practical but you will be asked to remove it when taking off to secure your child with a suitable belt. It can be useful during the flight if you want to walk around the plane with your baby in your arms.

    Tip #4: Anticipate earache

For babies, plan to give them a bottle of water or a pacifier during takeoff and landing to avoid earache.

    Tip #5: Embrace screens

Screens remain a relaxing activity for your children that is quite effective in calming them down or simply keeping them occupied, especially on a long-haul flight where you will quickly run out of ideas to keep them occupied. You can bring your own iPad or tablet to show cartoons that you have previously downloaded and will be sure to please your children.
